Here's exactly where Deus Ex: Human Revolution keeps your saves on PC, how to open the folder, and how to back them up.
Save file locations
<Steam>\userdata\<SteamID>\28050\remote
Default Steam folder is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam. 28050 is the Steam App ID; open the numbered profile folder inside userdata.
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Deus Ex HRDC
Full path: C:\Users\<YourName>\Documents\My Games\Deus Ex HRDC . Game settings are stored separately in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HR.
Cloud saves
The Steam version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution uses Steam Cloud via userdata\...\28050\remote. If progress rolls back, it's a cloud conflict — keep the save with the later timestamp.
How to open the save folder
- Press Win + R to open the Run box.
- Type %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Deus Ex HRDC and press Enter (GOG/DC), or open your Steam userdata\<id>\28050\remote folder.
- Open the save folder.
- Copy the whole folder somewhere safe before editing or moving PCs.
Save problems & fixes
Deus Ex: HR save won't load or is corrupt
Restore a manual copy of the remote or Deus Ex HRDC folder. On Steam, disable Cloud, replace the local save with a good backup, then re-enable Cloud so the good copy uploads.
Deus Ex: HR saves missing after switching Steam/GOG
Steam writes to userdata\...\28050\remote; GOG writes to Documents\My Games\Deus Ex HRDC. Copy files between the two folders manually to migrate progress.
