On Steam Deck the save lives inside the game's Proton prefix, not in your Linux home. AppID 526870. Proton always names the Windows user 'steamuser' (never your Linux username). Cloud saves
On PC, Satisfactory uses Steam Cloud (or Epic cloud), so your .sav factories sync across machines. If a cloud and local save conflict after offline play, pick the newer one so you don't lose factory progress.
Cloud save conflict & platform recovery
Satisfactory keeps a local copy under %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames and a Steam Cloud copy under Steam\userdata\<SteamID3>\526870 (or Epic's cloud). After offline play the two can disagree, and Steam may push the older cloud .sav over your newer local factory on next launch.
- Fully exit Satisfactory (check it isn't still running in the tray) so nothing re-syncs mid-copy.
- Copy your newest .sav from %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames to the Desktop as a safety copy.
- If Steam loaded an older save, right-click the game > Properties > General and toggle Steam Cloud off, launch once to confirm the local save is correct, then re-enable Cloud so it uploads the good version.
- Keep only one authoritative .sav per session — duplicate autosaves with close timestamps are the usual cause of loading the wrong factory.
Satisfactory factories are stored as single .sav files, and a bad Steam/Epic Cloud sync after offline play can roll back hours of building. Back up the whole SaveGames folder before verifying files, modding, or moving PCs — paste into Command Prompt (Win+R → cmd):

Satisfactory save won’t load or says it’s corrupt
